THE TRIBE

  • A man with dark hair and a beard playing an electric guitar under red stage lighting at a music venue.

    ROSHAN

Roshan's commitment to the guitar started innocently enough, thanks to his older brother around the age of 10. Cute, right? It got obsessive once he discovered the instrumental firepower of shred-masters like Guthrie Govan and Joe Satriani. It was less a choice to get good, and more an immediate, non-negotiable step toward greatness.

Roshan operates as a melodic chameleon. His sound isn't one thing; it's a calculated composite, absorbing and synthesizing the best moments from every corner of the musical map: from R&B and Fusion to heavy doses of Blues and Rock. If a line catches his interest, he’s already assimilating it, mastering it by ear and integrating it into his arsenal for the next session.

  • Man with dreadlocks playing an electric guitar on a stage with dark curtains.

    rhys

Rhys was never going to choose the bass; the bass chose him. A genetic destiny sealed early on by his Dad (professional bassist, teacher, and idol) giving lessons in the family home. He first picked up the instrument in 2006, fuelled by the desire to uphold the family name and master the groove.

Rhys’s entire rhythmic universe orbits the Funk, Disco, and Boogie of the 70s and 80s. The boogie is his undeniable niche, a comfort zone born from studying the masters like Teena Marie and carrying on the legacy of his father's work with groups like The Cool Notes.

His ultimate goal at any jam or demo is straightforward: lock into a bassline so outrageously funky, it becomes a pillar. His own personal philosophy aligns nicely with the Collective: Keep Funkin'.

  • A man passionately singing into a microphone in a dimly lit venue, wearing a beige shirt with a floral pattern and a cap, with a red light partially obscuring the scene.

    daniel

Faith, Family, and Funk: These are the guiding principles for Daniel, one of the collective's core vocal powerhouses. His performance is fearless, and his true magic is a killer voice matched only by his unbelievable piano skills. He is unapologetically bold on stage and always commands attention.

Born in South London which contributes precisely "0.05% road" to his personality, Daniel's Nigerian heritage is the undeniable backdrop to his towering stage presence. The source code for his sound is deeply rooted in the heavy-hitting Gospel gems like Kirk Franklin and Maverick City, fused with the silky finesse of R&B kings such as Usher, Boyz II Men, and Joe.

  • A man wearing a brown bucket hat and dark gray shirt playing a black drum set in a room with wood-paneled walls and a black geometric art piece.

    josh

Josh is the resident pulsekeeper of MFT. At 13, he ambled into a school music room, got behind the kit and found it a natural fit. He earned his stripes playing in churches, local jazz and rock bands, as well as the festival circuit throughout his adolescence and early adulthood.

He started MFT as a low-stakes exercise: a means to reconnect with people and "mess around" with music again. Predictably, this casual experiment spiralled into live performances, songwriting, music production, collaboration and, much to his surprise, a lot of fun.

Josh’s musical influences are seemingly chaotic, blending the Foo Fighters' rock punch, the expressive genius of Kanye West, and the timeless grooves of Chic. He is the rhythmic backbone of the MFT collective.

THE COLLECTIVE

  • A woman with dark curly hair singing into a microphone on stage, wearing an orange jacket.

    do remi

Do Remi arrived via recommendation and quickly proved herself indispensable. While she was unavailable to join the band full-time, her impact on the collective's trajectory is undeniable.

She is one of the best songwriters the Tribe has ever worked with. Her gift for crafting melodies, song structure, and lyrical potency is delivered at a level that appears effortless. Do Remi helped write multiple original tracks, performed in crucial live shows, and was instrumental in the development of MFT’s debut single, "About You."

Dana elevates every room she enters, leaving us wondering how someone can be so naturally gifted.

  • A woman with long curly hair and a headscarf, standing in front of a microphone on a stage with pixelated and abstract digital backgrounds illuminated by purple and pink lighting.

    kah'nya

We met Kah’nya tearing up a festival stage, and her creative spark was undeniable.

Kah’nya is a multi-linguist songwriter whose fantastic voice is powered by her roots. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, that heritage is the emotional core of her music. Now UK based, she seamlessly fuses the raw depth of R&B with the polish of soft pop, creating a sound that feels both new and deeply familiar.

Her soulful vocals and introspective songwriting map out the journey of self-discovery and identity. Kah'nya creates music for anyone who feels a little caught between borders, or just utterly caught up in their feelings. Very human, very cool.

  • A woman with blonde hair sitting at an outdoor cafe table, resting her face in her hand, with a drink in front of her. She is wearing a white shirt, a yellow watch, and silver jewelry. There are people and storefronts in the background.

    ELLA

Ella is the formidable voice that drives MFT's debut single, making her an essential part of the Tribe's history. This highly capable singer and songwriter was persuaded by friends and family to take her lifelong passion seriously, leading her to university and eventually to London to continue her collaboration with the collective.

While her presence is now undeniable, her meticulous craft is shaped by an ear for both lyrical dexterity and vocal prowess: she cites J. Cole for his flow and Summer Walker for her beautiful runs and trills. This results in a singer whose powerful delivery ensures the songs land exactly where they should. Ella is currently one of the few vocalists we trust to take our music to new heights during our London performances.

  • A young woman with dark hair and blue streaks is dancing at a party, smiling with eyes closed, with her hands behind her head, in a dimly lit venue with colorful lights and a neon skull in the background.

    MJ

We met MJ after our Camden set, where her immediate, keen eye for composition perfectly translated our stage energy into striking photos.

The best part? She delivered the finished, edited assets the next day. A level of professional follow-through that puts her ahead of 90% of working creatives (argue with yourselves).

Her creative juice is not limited to the camera lens. MJ not only sings but also possesses a distinct inclination for visual art and makeup. She brings a rare, cross-disciplinary aesthetic to the Collective, which we very much welcome.

  • A young man playing a bass guitar on stage during a performance.

    DAN EDMUNDS

If MFT needs it, Dan can play it, and he’ll do it with exceptional energy. This multi-instrumentalist brings the kind of infectious good vibes and wicked stage presence that elevate any performance.

Beyond his instrumental fluidity, Dan is the engine behind BandUp, a crucial community he founded to connect and support London's creative ecosystem. He is currently committed to more projects than anyone can reasonably track, which only confirms his unique presence and reputation as an all-around good man who simply cannot say no to music.

  • Smiling man sitting at a desk with a phone, surrounded by office supplies and a water bottle.

    RICHARD HAYIBOR

MFT’s "About You," owes a debt to Richard, the highly-skilled bassist and founding member of MFT

Having spent 14 years honing his craft, Richard didn't just stumble into the studio. His skills were meticulously honed through extensive session work, live production and AV tech.

His contribution to MFT goes beyond technical skill; it's a deep understanding of how rhythm and harmony intersect, ensuring the low-end is both complex and undeniable. He is, simply put, mega talented, providing the kind of session authority that only years in the industry can forge. He’s currently retired, but we doubt he can resist music for long

  • Close-up selfie of a woman with dark wavy hair, wearing a gold watch, looking at the camera with her hand raised to her forehead.

    ROSILDE

Rosi is the unsung hero responsible for making MFT look like a proper entity in the chaotic early days. She stumbled into a few jams and recognised that a band this good requires visual proof.

She immediately started filming and creating content for our initial social media push, showing a keen eye for angles and motion that captures the energy of the room. Crucially, she is also the visual architect behind the cover art for our debut single, turning abstract sound into a professional visual asset.

Her reliable follow-through proved invaluable in transitioning MFT from a casual meetplace to a professional collective.

  • A young man with dark skin wearing sunglasses, headphones, a blue and white patterned shirt, and layered necklaces, capable of DJing or listening to music.

    temi.wav

A true Jack of All Trades , he initially joined MFT filling in on bass, but his talent is not instrument-specific; he is a remarkably versatile musician (although he’d call himself a drummer first).

When he's not providing that fluid groove, Temi dedicates his time to running a YouTube channel, several Instagram accounts and freelance graphic design.

In short, Temi is the man you call when you need everything done at once, and he tends to look down on the rest of us… not because he's judgmental, but because he's pretty tall.

  • A woman with long braided hair wearing a black dress standing in a parking lot with cars and buildings in the background.

    ashleigh banx

What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? They surrender to Ashleigh.

Ashleigh isn't just a powerful vocalist; she's an undeniable performer whose creative vision is strong enough to bend the trajectory of an entire show. She is utterly uncompromising in her artistic choices and captivating on stage.

Her presence is a powerful blend of commanding talent and magnetic charisma, ensuring that every time she steps up to the mic, it’s all eyes on her.

And she wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • A person wearing a beige cap and white t-shirt playing an orange electric guitar on stage during a performance, with blue and green stage lighting.

    TADEUS LAMAR

What is there to say about Tadeus?

Revealed to us via recommendation, he is a prodigious talent, with the guitar being his preferred instrument.

His skill far surpasses his years. Tadeus delivers versatile, fluid, and expressive performances, adapting instantly to any groove with effortless soul. Keep an eye on this one. If you haven’t heard his music already, you will soon.

  • A woman with dark skin and long, curly black hair wearing a strapless, shiny dark blue dress and gold earrings, standing against a brick wall background.

    FUNANYA

Don't let the Manchester accent fool you. Funanya is a revelation. She is a highly capable singer and songwriter whose abilities have been honed on stages across London, both as a powerful solo act and as a compelling ensemble member.

She specialises in penning tracks that stick and resonate deeply with her audiences, embracing a vulnerability starkly contrasting her demeanour. Sometimes, the most talented people are the ones who show up when they feel like it. In her case, its (usually) worth it.

  • A man wearing a black headscarf and a pink t-shirt stands next to a keyboard, in a music studio with drums and sound equipment visible in the background.

    ROTIMI

Rotimi was a founding member of MFT and comes to the collective with undeniable roots in Nigerian music heritage, being a blood relative of the legendary Fela Kuti.

This heritage isn't just a fun fact; it forms the core of his musical appreciation and understanding. Rotimi brought that deep reverence for the craft directly into the studio, contributing significant effort and creative input to the early development and production of the debut single, "About You."

He is bold, supremely charming, and a vital part of the creative foundation that launched MFT.

  • NOVA

Nova is the latest, most kinetic addition to MFT's vocal lineup. She spent years cutting her teeth in the music industry hustle, but when she joined the collective, her prior live experience amounted to exactly one performance. After a single MFT jam, Nova conquered three popular London venues in a single week.

This rapid-fire output is supported by genuine talent. Nova is an amazing songwriter and a master of skilled vocal improvisation—a fearless, unscripted instinct that seamlessly blends with Daniel’s energy She draws heavily from the cool, complex songwriting of artists like RAYE and Sasha Keable.

  • MAYA

Hailing from East London, her path began five years ago as a curious interest in the guitar that quickly became a simmering passion, which proved too hard to ignore. Seemingly reserved, she prefers to speak through the music. The necessity of her grooves are clear to any blessed to hear them.

This focus is powered by her preternatural ear for arrangement. Her influences are a masterclass in rhythmic espionage, spanning icons who perfected the groove and complex lyricism: Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, and Jill Scott, alongside rhythmic titans like Nile Rodgers and George Benson. goes here
